X-Men: 7 Best & 7 Worst Casting Decisions In The Franchise So Far

6. Ryan Reynolds - Wade Wilson (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

It may seem somewhat at odds with the general acceptance of Origins as the worst ever X-Men movie to have an actor who was a major part of what was worst about the film included in a run down of the best casting decisions in the franchise, but there are few actors who would ever be as perfect for the role of Wade Wilson than Reynolds. Though the film completely ruined the good work done in casting Reynolds by turning Deadpool into a joke with the spectacularly stupid Weapon XI arc, and robbed the world of a chance to see him under the iconic hood, Reynolds' diamond-sharp tongue and facetious charisma was the perfect answer to the requirements of the character. If anything, everything that made Reynolds so perfect for the role should have been pushed further: Deadpool is designed to be obnoxious, frustrating and comical, and in Reynolds' hands he could have been, if he wasn't saddled with such a poor script and direction. We can only hope the mooted stand-alone movie actually happens.
