X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Big Storylines That Should Come Next
6. Lifedeath
Alexandra Shipp's casting as Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse has been taken as a very encouraging move by fans. Whilst she's a lot younger than the Ororo Munroe most often seen in the comics, at least she's a talented actress; and, presumably, one who'll put a lot more into the role than Halle Berry ever did, with her presence in the earlier films becoming more and more about the princely sums she was inexplicably paid in order to appear, and even less about her actual performance. Which was uniformly dire. Admittedly, part of that was down to the scripts (in fact, the aforementioned Joss Whedon was responsible for the worst line in superhero movie history, delivered by Berry). If they wanted to change that, and perhaps give Shipp more room to work than Berry ever got with her ever-decreasing role, it'd be nice to see the iconic Lifedeath and it sequel storyline brought to the big screen. It would probably work better as a Storm solo film, or possibly as a sub-plot in one of the main X-Men films, but either way it's a doozy. Following Ororo's journey of re-discovery having lost her powers, and striking up a romance with the man who turns out to be behind that loss, it's as complex and involved a character study as the comics have ever come up with. Imagine, the first X-Men film that gets an Oscar nominee for Best Actress...
