X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Big Storylines That Should Come Next

7. Mutant Massacre

Then again, maybe Fox aren't interested in expanding the scope any further than Days Of Future Past did. It's a great film, but it must've been a right headache to make, with all the clashing timelines and continuity issues. They've given themselves a fresh start with that, and whilst X-Men: Apocalypse is introducing the most enormous threat the characters have ever faced, there's not much further they can go than that. It might be time for a breather. Not that the Mutant Massacre story is particularly chilled. Quite the opposite, in fact, with the crossover event involving a new supervillain team called the Marauders hunting down and killing their fellow mutants. Many of their potential victims decide to go live in the sewers with the Morlocks. Also introduced in The Last Stand but given short shrift, the Morlocks are a nice counterpoint to the wealthy, influential X-Men. Plus it would mean that one of the best X-Men action scenes €“ Storm fighting Morlock leader Callisto €“ could be adapted for the screen. And without Halle Berry half-arsing it!
