It was announced this week that Eastenders star Ben Hardy had landed a role in the 2016 superhero blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse, a film now looking busier than the Avengers' changing room. 24 year old Hardy, who played the sixth incarnation of Ian Beale's son Peter on the ever-popular London-based British soap opera, has been cast in an as yet unspecified role in the movie, prompting frantic discussion amongst X-fans regarding exactly which character he could be portraying. Originally rumoured to be playing a young version of existing movie character and key X-Men member Cyclops (he is said to have auditioned specifically for that part), that no longer seems the case - Tye Sheridan beat out Hardy for that particular role. Still, Hardy's casting came with the kicker that his role would indeed be an important one in the franchise.
