X-Men Apocalypse: 10 Comic Book Mistakes The Film Should Avoid

1. The Big Blue Apocalypse

2016 is a big year for Oscar Isaac. After smaller, dramatic roles in Drive, Ex Machina and Inside Llewyn Davis, next year is when he becomes a bonafide superstar: not only is he apparently fulfilling the Han Solo role in the new Star Wars flick, but he's also been cast to play the eponymous villain in X-Men: Apocalypse. And fingers crossed you can tell it's him. In Age Of Apocalypse €“ and, honestly, all of Apocalypse's comic book appearances €“ the villain looks like the sort of thing it'd be impossible to recreate on screen. He's about eight foot tall, hugely broad, with blue skin, big chunky wires going into his arms, and clad in a huge exo-suit. He's both a physical, intellectual, and powerful threat. That's a look that 100% wouldn't work on screen €“ if the X-Men's classic spandex costumes had to change, so too will Apocalypse. It certainly looked like he had the blue skin during that Days Of Future Past post-credits scene, but they would do well to stop it there. Suddenly going full supervillain with the X-Men movies would be a major mistake. Really, who wants to see Isaac like that? Much like the disappointment of Lupita Nyong'o's Star Wars character being motion-captured, putting as expressive an actor as Oscar Isaac in blue make-up and a big, lumbering suit would be a real waste of talent.
