According to Latino Review, the most likely candidates to play the weather-wielding mutant are also the least remarkable in terms of what they've done so far; but then, that's hardly a concern when Quicksilver proved in Days Of Future Past. Casting unknown at least makes it easier to step into the boots of as big a name actress (at least back when X-Men first launched as a movie franchise) as Halle Berry. The first option is apparently Alexandra Shipp, most known for her performance last year as the lead in TV movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, as well as an unfortunate role in the Chipmunks Squeakwel, which will never not be horribly cringe-worthy. She's also about to play a supporting role in Straight Outta Compton, so you get the sense she's on the verge of more of a break-out. Would She Work? Is a TV biopic really grounds enough to warrant consideration for such a key role? Well, she couldn't possibly do any worse than Halle Berry, who managed to make a fairly impressive character seem boring. But then, the Aaliyah biopic was mercilessly panned (despite being the second highest watched TV movie of the year - which is bit like coming second in a Miss Mediocre pageant).
