9. Taron Egerton Could Play Cyclops
The Kingsman star is going to have a big 2015, and if rumours are to believed, he's on the latest short-list to play Old Laser Eyes. Or Young Laser Eyes more appropriately, since it's going to be the '80s. The actor was inevitably vague when questioned about it:
"I really cant comment on the Cyclops thing. Im not really sure whats going on there or where that came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says thats very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I dont know.
So that's a definite maybe. Possibly.
Would He Work? Well, Matthew Vaughn's other left-field comic book property - Kick-Ass - proved to be the successful launch pad that Aaron Taylor-Johnson needed to become a regular A-Lister (albeit an odd-ball one), so there's obviously value in the director's casting team. But for now the jury is pretty firmly still out on the star, though he's doing his best to impress after his break-out performance on British fire service show The Smoke: he's just been in Testament Of Youth alongside Kit Harrington, and he'll be in the Krays' biopic with Tom Hardy in 2015 too. So by the time Apocalypse comes out, he might well be considered a genuine Hot Youth Thing.
