X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Reasons To Be Excited About The Lead Villain

8. He Believes In That Only The Strongest Should Survive

Apocalypse Dracul En Sabah Nur lives by his ancient tribe€™s ethos of survival of the fittest. Thousands of years before Charles Darwin proffered the theory of evolution, Apocalypse was making preparations to affect the outcome of the evolution of humanity and the destiny of the human race on Earth and beyond. All of the wars fought for him and started by him over the millennia have been with that single purpose in mind, to separate the wheat from the chaff, the men from the boys, the rum from the coke. Apocalypse believes that he will be the dawn of a new age, and personify that age. He€™ll be the god of the new world. Although strictly speaking, like Magneto Apocalypse is a terrorist obsessed with the advancement of his credo, in practice he€™s far, far worse. Where Magneto is a holocaust survivor, a political terrorist determined to protect his race from what he sees as the Nazis of the late twentieth century, Apocalypse doesn€™t care about mutants per se. He wants only the strongest to survive and join him, whoever and whatever they may be. He€™s created post-human monsters and villains from mutants, humans, aliens, whatever materials come to hand, and exterminated families, started continent-wide wars and caused the genocide of whole cultures to advance his cause. The world €˜apocalypse€™ doesn€™t just mean an unveiling or a revelation these days. It means the end of the world.
