Bob Harras, who was Marvel's editor-in-chief from 1995 to 2000 and the main instigator in the creation of this then new villain in 1986, suggested that Apocalypse be a "Magneto level-villain" and that's exactly what Louise Simonson, Jackson Guice and Walter Simonson gave him. However, in order for the character to feel like a genuine threat to the X-Men in this movie he will need to be more powerful than anything we've seen in an X-Men movie to date. The fans will want to see a monstrous character displaying his full array of powers, from his super-strength and durability to his more esoteric abilities like molecular manipulation, teleportation, energy manipulation, technopathy and telepathy. The character should also be presented as a genius so that he is a threat on more than just a physical level. Essentially, the movie version of Apocalypse needs to be an absolute beast.
