Somewhat inexplicably, Cable - one of the more popular Marvel characters and arguably the most awesome of the X-Men - has yet to be depicted in any of the seven X-Men movies to date. That simply must change and X-Men: Apocalypse seems like the ideal time to bring him in to the live action universe. Cable's powers are incredible - he possesses high-level telepathy and telekinesis, technopathy (the ability to control and interact with machinery) and enhanced physical statistics. He is also an expert marksman and a formidable hand-to-hand combatant. He would, therefore, be a vital cog in the proverbial machine put together to face Apocalypse. Indeed, the characters have crossed paths on many occasions in the comic books and Cable is a key character in the villain's history. Cable, being a time-traveller, came to the present to prevent Apocalypse from awakening. Ironically, the presence of such a powerful mutant served only to awaken his monstrous mutant counterpart and, as such, Cable felt a heightened responsibility when it came to defeating him. To use him in that capacity in the movie would be an easy way to introduce him (given that Days of Future Past already establishes the existence of time travel in this universe) and a cool story for the movie to follow.
