7. Mystique Will Give Birth To Nightcrawler

The revelation that Nightcrawler is Mystique's son sent many fans reeling in the 1990s, and the later clarification that Nightcrawler's father was an ancient mutant named Azazel has been met with mixed feelings. When Azazel was revealed to be an early member of the Brotherhood of Mutants in First Class (along with Mystique by the end of the movie), many fans were convinced that the only reason was to facilitate the birth of Nightcrawler. In Days Of Future Past, however, it is revealed that Azazel is dead, which considerably hampers his ability to father a child (not that this has ever stopped any of the X-Men before). It is also possible that Azazel fathered Nightcrawler before his death, and this contributes both to his abandonment and Mystique's attitude in Days Of Future Past. But if the father isn't Azazel, there are other men (blue men) with a history with Mystique who should consider a paternity test...
