X-Men: Apocalypse - 12 Big Questions That Still Need Answering

11. Will We See Weapon X?

MarvelSpeaking of evil Wolverine... Weapon X is most commonly referred to in the main Marvel universe as the genetic research program William Stryker designed and implemented on an unwilling or at most semi-willing Logan. For the uninitiated, it€™s how his bones were transformed into Adamantium. However, in the Age Of Apocalypse storyline (set in an alternate universe) Weapon X is the monicker used by an alternate Wolverine, who never actually uses the latter name at all in that timeline. In this world, he€™s still a lone wolf who meets Jean Grey and strikes up a romantic liaison with her. Similarly to the main world he€™s constantly at loggerheads with Cyclops, who chops off one of Weapon X€™s hands (don€™t worry, Wolvie - sorry Weapon X - gouged out one of Cyclops€™ eyes.) So, really the question here is: will we see either iteration of Weapon X, or perhaps a merging of the two versions? As the events of 1973 in Days Of Future Past came to a close, we saw Wolverine pulled out of a lake by Mystique masquerading as Stryker. If the new film is to follow this timeline as we€™ve been led to believe, there€™s a chance we will witness a new origin for the character. After all, that version of Logan still has his bone claws and his role in the genetic transformation program has yet to take place. Or will we see a darker Wolverine, who is still a member of the X-Men, albeit with a bigger axe to grind towards Cyclops?
