12. Domhnall Gleeson - Nightcrawler
One of the biggest missed opportunities in Days Of Future Past was the decision - presumably wrenching - to drop Nightcrawler from the production. Bryan Singer has spoken since the film's release to confirm that the character was set to re-appear having been unceremoniously disappeared after X2, with a scene written for him, but that he was forcing in too many mutants for the sake of it. But at the same time, Singer has revealed that he is considering adding a young Nightcrawler to the Apocalypse cast, which is a shame for those who believe Alan Cumming's performance to be one of the best in comic book movie history, but which is good news for fans of the character all the same. In Domhnall Gleeson - who might be somewhat tied up with Star Wars obligations - Singer would have a striking looking actor who could fit into the hole left by Cumming well, and though he is 30, under heavy make-up, he wouldn't look as old and could add the same theatricality to the performance as Cumming did.
