2. Sophie Turner's Performance

For a lot of fans - Game of Thrones ones, in particular - Dark Phoenix represents an opportunity to see whether Sophie Turned has it in her to graduate from that show to leading roles in movies. On the evidence so far here, it's unclear.

As was brought up with X-Men: Apocalypse, the new cast members brought in as the next generation of X-Men lack the presence and chemistry of the so-called old guard. Even in this trailer, the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy already seem to be on a slightly higher level. 

It's a real shame, because it looks like Turner might be struggling to carry a role this important and a movie this big. Some of her lines in the trailer are stunted and aside from that opening sequence of her crying in the rain, she's a little clipped on her emotions too. It's not a strong case.
