Which brings us to the Phoenix itself. We get to see Jean doing all sorts of evil things throughout the trailer, including a particularly pleasant shot of her bringing down a military helicopter, but nothing on the scale that comics fans are used to.
The final shot of the trailer doesn't actually show the Phoenix in full flight, disappointingly, but there's a nice moment where Jean absorbs all the energy around her and leaves a vacuum in its wake.
The likelihood is that we'll get a better look as marketing for the film progresses, and while it might be a little too early to judge this latest version one way or another, the outburst of flames certainly looks more comics-accurate than what was shown in X2 and The Last Stand.
