X-Men: Days Of Future Past - 25 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
5. Rogue Gets Screwed
Though she was initially announced to be involved in Days Of Future Past, Anna Paquin was ultimately dropped from the film out of concern that the run-time - already extended beyond two hours - was going to be compromised. Later it was hinted that she would actually be involved, since she got her own character poster, but ultimately Rogue's only appearance comes in the nostalgic epilogue that brings all of the dead mutants back to life. Paquin was apparently supposed to be in an action sequence, where she is rescued from a Sentinel prison, and her removal from the final film leaves an almighty hole in the science behind the future versions of the Sentinels. The film explains their adaptability as a product of Mystique's DNA, but that doesn't fit the logic of her abilities, and should have been explained as the result of Rogue's DNA being taken. That would also at least have explained her disappearance.
