X-Men: Days Of Future Past Review - 10 Awesome Moments
6. Quicksilver
Prior to the movie's release, much was made of the ridiculous attire Quicksilver was kitted out in, with many instantly judging it negatively and assuming that Aaron Taylor-Johnson's interpretation of the character for Avengers: Age of Ultron would definitely be the one to watch. However, Evan Peters' rendition of Quicksilver turned out to be the highlight of the movie in many ways, depicting him as a quick-witted, fun-loving young man who makes fast friends with Wolverine after he recruits him to break Magneto out of the Pentagon. Quicksilver's action scene in the Pentagon is easily the best set-piece of the movie: as himself, Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine prepare to exit the building, they're attacked by a number of armed guards, who open fire at them. Cue a marvellously funny scene in which Quicksilver uses his powers of supersonic speed to run around the room, moving the trajectory of traveling bullets and causing the guards to all end up incapacitating themselves (complete with a customary wedgie, as well). Whether or not Joss Whedon's Quicksilver can measure up to this remains to be seen, but the X-Men version has certainly set the bar high. It's just a shame that he's not in the movie more, as he pretty much leaves straight after this scene and is only seen briefly again near the end of the movie.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
