As great as the majority of X-Men movies have been over the years, describing them as "epic" doesn't really seem to fit how the franchise has played out so far. However, that all looks set to change with X-Men: Apocalypse, and based on a recent interview with Bryan Singer, that will be reflect in the movie's running time. "I think it's gonna be a longer X-Men movie," he teased. "The X-Men movies, I usually I keep under two hours, but this one I may actually let be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies. So, it might run a little bit long, but it's not boring." Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy proved that superhero movies can hit that dreaded two and a half hour mark and still be both financial hits (the longer a movie is, the less screens it can play on during any given day) and tell a compelling story moviegoers will become invested in, so this is no bad thing. However, as big a X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be, Singer was keen to emphasise that the emotional stakes will still be high, mostly thanks to the movie's extraordinary cast. "[Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and my villain Oscar Isaac are among the three greatest living actors in cinema, in their age category by far. They will not be lauded, or rewarded, because they're in an X-Men movie and comic book movies just don't get that kind of s**t. But they deliver some extraordinary performances particularly in X-Men: Apocalypse. The movie is very emotional. I love the pathos of the characters and their relationships." Don't pretend you're not just as excited for this movie as Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Captain America: Civil War now... Looking forward to the future of the X-Men?
