X-Men franchise news

b29487742.jpgThe executive producer for the X-Men movies Lauren Shuler Donner has spoken about the upcoming plans for the franchise and the current casting situation. She said the following to the LA Daily News.... "The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not." Considering the older names involved -- Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin -- that could run into a huge chunk of money". "Next, we're going to do 'Wolverine,' but not before the end of the year because he's in the Baz Luhrmann film," "We also have 'Young Magneto' in development." So lots of news to take in there. First of all, I would expect everyone who is not currently signed for X-Men 4 to return apart from Famke Janssen and possibly Halle Berry. Janssen's character SHOULD be left buried, and I see no reason for her to return and I think Halle Berry has had enough of the X-Men series so I can't see her return. I love that they are doing a Wolverine prequel. I think it's the best way to go with this franchise. It was evident in X-Men 3 (which was way better than I expected) that a couple of characters didn't get much development). And Wolverine is so kick ass, who wouldn't want to see a whole movie devoted to him? I'm not as exicted to see a Young Magneto prequel but his backstory is probably the most interesting and compelling if not entirely exicting, but it could work. I don't envy the guys who have to find someone to play a young Ian McKellan or Patrick Stewart though. Is anyone sick of the X-Men franchise or are they as happy as me to see it continue? Why on earth should franchises end as a trilogy anyway, keep making them with as much high quality as the last three and fans will be happy! source - coming soon
