X-Men Movies: Ranked From Worst To Best

2. X-Men

If it weren't for Bryan Singer's first X-Men movie, we might not have comic book movies at all now. Coming three years after Joel Schumacher managed to get Batman movies cancelled, the ensemble proved that with a strong script, a wonderful cast and a fan's eye for the kind of spectacle that comic book movie fans eat up, the genre was still bankable. In perfectly casting the three key characters in the franchise (Magneto, Professor X and Wolverine) Singer offered a strong spine to which he added a great wider cast, and a great story that matched the potential of the source. The decision to focus on Rogue as the emotional heart of the narrative, and to introduce Wolverine along with her, rather than simply as a lone wolf also pushed the film on, as it added a familial element that hadn't been seen in the genre to date. Best Moment Wolverine's introduction is easily one of the finest character introductions in any comic book movie. Worst Moment Halle Berry.
