X-Men Sequels: 10 New Mutants Who Need To Be Included

6. Dazzler

Dazzler Alison Blaire is a talented singer and dancer who rebelled against her father€™s wish that she become a lawyer by fighting for her right to party. During the stress of her first public performance, strange lighting filled the hall, which the audience took to be merely part of the show, but was in fact the first manifestation of her mutant power to change sound into light. Later that evening, when a gang of bikers decided they required her services€”against her will€”her fear triggered a blast of brilliant light which dazzled the crowd, allowing police to gain control of the situation. Chastened by these brushes with an inexplicable power, Alison relented to her father€™s wishes and graduated from law school. However, she continued to hone her mutant abilities, and when it came to the crunch, chose her passion over the bar, creating the persona of Dazzler, an all singing, all rollerskating vision in a pantsuit€”a move which soon attracted the attention of both the X-Men and their enemies. Given the generally grim nature of the mutants€™ struggle, an artistic personality could go a long way to offering a different perspective on living as a mutant, perhaps even going so far as to win over a justifiably suspicious non-mutant population. A command of light offers all manner of spectacular possibilities in combat. And finally, given that the X-Men appear to play it pretty fast and loose with their business model, it certainly wouldn€™t hurt to have their legal fees taken care of.
