X-Men: The New Mutants - 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited

Oh, if Wolverine only knew.

Well, 20th Century Fox has certainly been busy in regards to the X-Men series lately, haven't they?

Over the last couple of years, it seems that they finally decided to take a page out of Marvel Studios' (and Warner Bros.') book and upgrade the X-Men franchise from a standard, linear movie series into a full-blown cinematic universe (or universes, but that's a different discussion.)

Now that they've expanded the series to cover genres it never crossed over with before, their next film, The New Mutants (an adaptation of the comic book series of the same name), is set to be an all-out horror movie.

The first trailer dropped on Friday the 13th and was followed by updates that have just made things look better and better. And while we're still a number of months away from its release, that doesn't mean we shouldn't start getting excited now.

The New Mutants will be the first theatrical installment in the franchise since Logan and it looks to be the next step in an X-Men hot streak, which is why you should definitely be looking forward to their newest project.

But if you're still not convinced, you should read on.

10. The Trailer Looks Promising

While trailers aren't always completely reliable when it comes to judging the potential quality of a film (especially these days), they do still play an important part in setting a tone and getting audiences ready for what they should expect.

And the debut trailer for The New Mutants absolutely accomplishes this.

Right from the beginning, this trailer sets the horror vibe, introduces us to the fact that this will be a very different X-Men story than what we're used to, and gives us a good look at the cast as well as a general idea as to what the conflict in the film will be. What's more is that it does this without saying too much or spoiling anything, a pitfall many modern trailers fall into.

Plus, the decision to use Pink Floyd's Another Brick In the Wall, Pt. 2 was incredibly clever, as it helps paint a picture as to how the titular mutants feel about their situation in the hospital.

Again, we can't fully judge the film just yet, but a trailer this well put together definitely bodes well for the finished product.
