X-Men's Gambit Spin-Off Movie: Everything You Need To Know

8. Taylor Kitsch Wasn't Offered The Opportunity To Return As Gambit

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of those unfortunate misfires that nobody seems to like. As a result, the 2009 prequel has been largely retconned within Fox's X-Men series. Apparently that expanded to include most of the cast (Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds exempted) as Taylor Kitsch recently revealed there wasn't even discussion of him reprising the role of Gambit. Kitsch's performance in the film was fairly adequate, but the larger stink surrounding the enterprise seems to have forced him out the door. On the subject Kitsch had this to say:
"Um€no, I didn€™t have a go . Ever since we finished the movie, it€™s never really been an option. But no, I wish nothing but the best. It was a fun character to play, and I learned a lot working with Hugh and had an amazing time in Australia. I€™m sure they€™re doing their own thing with it, and I€™m sure Channing will be great.
He may no longer be Gambit, but the dude sounds like a consummate professional.
