8. Sophie Turner's Accent Really Isn't That Bad...
I'm usually the first person to hate on an accent when it goes wrong; if somebody tries and fails to deliver the appropriate vocal performance in a movie, it completely pulls me out of the experience and I spend the rest of the film listening intently to every line reading, searching for some consistency.
I was super worried about Sophie Turner's accent before I sat down to X-Men: Apocalypse, based on her line readings in the trailers and the fact that, you know, she's a somewhat questionable actress as it is.
That said, I'm not really getting all the hate aimed at Turner's American accent in Apocalypse. Yes, there are a few telling moments when she drops it and sounds semi-British, but - generally speaking - there have been far worse American accents in Hollywood of late, and this one just falls somewhere in the middle.
Tons of reviews have attacked Turner's supposedly terrible attempt at sounding American, but - save for a few tiny moments - it's not really bad enough to warrant such high levels of ridicule. Notice how the majority of American reviews don't even bother to comment on it, because clearly it's more "average" than "awful."
