X-Men Apocalypse: 36 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes & References You Need To See
4. Charles Xavier's Famous Wheelchair
As the trailers (again absolutely needlessly) confirmed, Apocalypse sees the first time that James McAvoy's Professor X appears bald.
His hair-loss actually mirrors how it happens in the comics, in a way. On the page, he lost his hair simply because of the strength of his powers: in Apocalypse it seems like his attempt to resist his transformation into Apocalypse burns it off as a power surge would.
His outfit is also important, as it shows a progression towards the Charles Xavier of Singer's first trilogy - sharp suits replacing the sexy teacher vibe. As a further part of that, he's also rocking the same wheelchair Stewart's Prof X uses in X-Men.
That final scene also has an echo from First Class: the line "Doesn't it ever wake you up in the middle of the night...") is taken verbatim from their last scene of Vaughn's flick.
