X-Men Apocalypse: 7 Ways It Could Change The Franchise Forever

6. Mutantkind Will Be Fully Exposed

At the start of the original X-Men film mutants were something that the general populace was only just beginning to become aware of, with government officials speaking of the next stage of evolution in scarcely believing tones. Magneto's actions at The White House in the altered timeline have probably accelerated humankind's understanding of the mutant issue and fuelled their fear, and with mutants making themselves more visible in Cuba, Paris and the US all eyes will be on them. With Magneto believed to have killed one president and caught on camera attempting to off another, it's hard to imagine that relations between the races are in a good place by the time 1983 rolls around. Seeing the plight of his mutant brethren usually puts Apocalypse on the path to a genocidal rampage, and with the humans potentially less trusting and tolerant of mutants than ever before it's likely he'll have plenty of reason to take the huff when he awakes. A campaign of terror in the name of mutant reign is something that neither the X-Men nor the authorities can keep under wraps for long though, so more and more humans will have to make up their minds on the mutant issue.
