We know that Disney are attempting to develop live-action adaptations of their most-prized animated features, and Snow White is no exception. It's now emerged, however, that the take will instead focus more heavily on White's little-known sister, Rose Red, and act more as a companion piece to the original Snow White story.

Justin Merz's original script reportedly operated as a standalone tale, but it is currently being reworked into the classic story, apparently kicking off just as Snow takes a bite out of the poisoned apple and becomes incapacitated. Red then attempts to rescue her sister from eternal slumber, meaning that this could be a brave and ambitious revisionist take on a familiar tale.
