Zac Efron to star in Footloose remake

Variety are reporting that Paramount Pictures are working on a full blown musical remake to Footloose with High School Musical and Hairspray star Zac Efron set to lead. Efron will be playing the role of Ren McCormack made famous by Kevin Bacon in the original. High School Musical director Kenny Ortega is attached to helm. I hate the whole idea of remakes but I despise musicals, so it's probably best I say little more on this thing. There's a worrying revival of musicals at the moment and it's not to my liking!
