9. Wave Race Reboot
Speaking of series unseen since 2001, Wave Race was an extremely entertaining racer from the GameCube era that has been basically forgotten by Nintendo for more than a decade. It was a solid alternative to Mario Kart, offering equal parts casual co-op fun and a worthy test of player precision and driving.
While there's been little of anything mentioned regarding Wave Race, series producer Shinya Takahashi made some recent comments that had people believing a new installment was arriving sooner rather than later.
During the 2018 BAFTA awards, Takahashi was asked about the franchise's future, to which he responded 'You may see that game again.' This led to many speculating of an announcement coming later in the year, with the potential for some epic wave-riding in 2019.
Alas, this does appear to have been a playfully-optimistic comment and nothing more. Until Nintendo shows any initiative to bring it back, fans will have to dust off their GameCubes if they want to do any Wave Racing.
