To celebrate the French release of superlative Samus Aran sequel Metroid Prime 2 in November 2004, Nintendo France ordered a supremely special version of the Gamecube, beautifully adorned with the bounty hunter.
The absolute rarest of all Gamecubes was the top prize on offer for the hard-working winner of a very special competition. This was no simple multiple choice phone-in asking entrants to say the word 'Zebes', but an involved piece of coursework which demanded an original piece of Metroid-related media.
A similarly lovely one-of-a-kind Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP was up for grabs for second place, more or less a standard silver SP albeit with a big, nasty-looking Metroid pasted across the shell, and some grisly blood oozing onto the front.
