10 Amazing Video Games That Justify The Wii U's Existence
6. Splatoon
As mentioned, there's something of an overabundance of first-person shooters these days. That in itself is no bad thing - shooters can be fantastic - but with series like Call Of Duty and Battlefield dominating the market, it can be tough to find a bit of variety within the genre.
But that's where Splatoon comes in. Released in May 2015, the game is Nintendo's answer to the online shooter. The premise is simple: two teams duke it out by shooting ink rather than bullets, battling to see who can cover the most territory with their particular colour.
Though it might sound like a simple turf war game, Splatoon oozes with Nintendo's patented charm. The graphics are bright and appealing, there's an insane variety of weapons (everything from ink-spewing sniper rifles to ink grenades) and a great variety of maps.
Regardless of your opinion on shooters, Nintendo should be applauded for trying something completely new.
