I've established that flying enemies in games are universally and objectively A Terrible Thing, but you know what else is up there? Hammer enemies. Guys wielding great mallets twice their own size as if they were inflatables, and yet when they come crashing down on your head they're anything but.

Ok, so it's hard to tell whether the top-heavy weapons wielded by the Drakekeepers in Dark Souls 2 are actually hammers or maces, but it doesn't matter - the way in which they're utilised is outright abusive. Dark Souls has always done a great job of making enemies tough but fair, so you'd think that after four overhead swings from these guys crash against your shield and wipe out your stamina, they'd take a breather during which you can strike.

Not the case, as the tireless scummer continues pounding down on you six, seven, eight times, breaking your guard, then repeatedly beating on your spread-eagled body until you're dead, dead, dead.
