10 Annoying Video Game Trends That Must Die In 2017
7. Multiplayer Trophies/Achievements
Trophy and Achievement hunters all know the bane of getting that illustrious Platinum. You’ve played through Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, done all the side-missions, the unique challenges, got 100% synchronisation in all missions, but you’re missing one: Get to rank 50 in multiplayer. Rank 50! In a multiplayer that was - and still is - already dead!
This is a thorn in the side of all completionists who are forced to push through online mode, just to get a trophy that they have already earned by playing the game. Forcing a player to use your multiplayer is not the best way to go about increasing the number of players regardless, and can ultimately create spite towards the entire thing, especially when the multiplayer has been dead for years, making trophies impossible to unlock.
And the thing is, there is already a solution to the problem. Either get rid of online trophies or put them in a separate folder within the same game. PlayStation trophies have separate sections for additional DLC trophies, so put the online ones in one of those and leave the platinum trophy free for single player.
You don’t need to remove them, just make it so you don’t have to slog through a bunch of boring online matches with people you don’t like just to get an ultimately worthless shiny symbol. Please. For the sake of all the OCD-riddled completionists out there, make it right.
