3. Final Fantasy VII Was Supposed To Be Released Exclusively For The N64, But It Was Too Big

I've never really thought about it until right this second, but at some point the
Final Fantasy series made a shift from Nintendo consoles and onto Sony ones. Now it seems normal for
Final Fantasy to be associated with the Playstation brand and not Nintendo, but a swap did occur - and for a very real and very legitimate reason. Fact is, when Squaresoft were designing
Final Fantasy VII for the Nintendo 64, they realised that it was going ton be pretty big. Too big, in fact. Eventually the company came to terms with the fact that there was no way in hell that their game was ever going to fit onto an N64 cartridge - in actuality, it wouldn't have even fit onto 10! Which meant that the company's only option was to move away from the console that was limiting their creativity, and shift their project over to the Playstation format. And even that version of the game had to be spread across 4 discs; it would have taken between 11-15 cartridges on the N64.
