4. Command and Conquer Tiberium

383270-wallpaper_command_and_conquer_3_tiberium_warsWhy We Want To Play It:Command and Conquer is a storied franchise, one of the highest selling RTS series ever. For the last ten years, EA had some grand ideas for what direction they wanted to take the franchise. Seeming as if there was not much life in the RTS genre, EA spun the series towards FPS gameplay with squad based controls. Trailers and gameplay videos emerged for C&C Tiberium. In 2008, most previews from journalist were encouraging. One of the reasons for this was the GD10, an all-purpose gun that morphed into whatever you needed. Rocket launcher, assault rifle, you name it, it did it. This aspect was going to remove the need to switch out weapons and keep gameplay continuous. Running on Unreal Engine 3 at the time would have promised impressive visuals and frantic gameplay. These features, plus many more, made Tiberium a highly anticipated game. Why We Never Will: No one knows exactly what happen in regards to the development of Tiberium. At one point, EA is showcasing the game to journalist and the world with trailers, then they abruptly cancelled it because it was not going to €œmeet the standards they require€ for a high quality game. While the title wasn€™t going to directly have Command and Conquer in the title (as far as we know), there were some C&C fans biting at the bit to give this game a try. Fast forward a couple of years and C&C Arena, a game that was cancelled before anyone found out about it, continued the trend for the stagnant franchise.
