10 Awesome Cancelled Video Games We Still Want To Play

5. Banjo Threeie

banjo_kazooie_3_threeie1Why We Want To Play It: During the golden days of Rare, Banjo Kazooie was one of the best platformers available for the Nintendo 64. Ten years after the orignal was released, the game came to the XBox Live arcade, clearly showing the franchise still had legs. The sequel Banjo-Tooie followed the game pattern. The third installment, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, sold well enough to become a Platinum Hit for XBox, and was received reasonably well with critics. Sounds like a solid track record. There have not been many platformers since the €œnext-generation€ of gaming has begun that has had as much success as the Banjo-Kazooie series. Why We Never Will:First off, Rare is owned by Microsoft. The only thing that€™s really kicking for them right now is Kinect Sports. Grant Kirkhope and Steven Hurst, two ex-Rare employees that worked on the original series, have expressed their interest in making a true sequel to Banjo-Tooie that returned the game more to its roots as opposed to the direction that was taken for Nuts and Bolts. The type of game they want to create would probably work better on the WiiU or 3DS; depending on the direction Microsoft wants to take the next Xbox. As a guest on the web series Game Grumps, Grant Kirkhope stated that he€™d love to have Banjo-Threeie come out on a Nintendo system. It is rumored that Microsoft has allowed Rare to develop games on the 3DS, so again, anything is possible.
