3. Time Crisis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4qEUeXTS6_k Ah, Time Crisis, a classic title of the PSOne era that I spent many an afternoon smashing through in the arcade as a wee nipper, ignoring the horrendous voice acting in favour of the thrilling novelty of using a light-gun to blow away the bad guys. Though it's hailed as one of the first mainstream light-gun games that could be played at home, it wasn't exactly a hallmark of technical prowess, what with its dreadful graphics - even for the time - and its especially horrid voice acting. The game gets away with it to an extent because, like the next two games on the list, it's pitched as a B-movie, and so the badness in effect helps to accentuate that feel. Just listen to the opening narration above; it's as though the voice actor was making a special effort to be as cheesy and as one-note as possible. The rest of the game's voice actors follow suit as well, giving it the feel of a wonderfully naff 80s action film, and we're sort of glad for it.
