10 Awesome Games With Terrible Voice Acting

2. Resident Evil

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XyghKl72R0 Here's the game that kick-started it all, in that it was the first major game to receive considerable attention for the badness of its voice acting, without actually hurting the reputation of the game itself all that much, if at all. From the opening cut-scene - which is live-action rather than FMV - it's clear that Capcom was aiming for a B-movie somewhat in the vein of George A. Romero's classic zombie films, albeit with a bit more silliness thrown in. This transpires through to the voice performances, which are almost universally awful, and yet none is as hilariously bad as the voice of Jill's buddy Barry Burton. He gets countless timeless zingers such as "I hope this isn't...Chris's blood", "You were almost a Jill sandwich!", and perhaps most famously - as viewable above - "It might be handy if YOU, the master of unlocking, take it with you". It's difficult to imagine that the voice actor was actually trying to be serious when recording these lines, but at the same time we like to think that it was just a happy accident that things turned out as well as they did, badness and all.
