10 Awesome Horror Games Set In One Location

7. The Submarine - Iron Lung (2022)

still wakes the deep

Developed and published by David Szymanski, Iron Lung is an intensely claustrophobic short horror game that places players in the bowels of a small, rickety submarine as they’re tasked with exploring the depths of a mysterious blood ocean on a distant moon.

With the submarine’s front window and hatch sealed shut, players are completely trapped within the makeshift vessel and are forced to navigate their surroundings using only map coordinates to make their way to points of interests then use a camera to take grainy photographs of what they find.

If being surrounded by an unknowable alien abyss while confined in a tiny submarine wasn’t enough of an unsettling concept, the ominous sounds of something moving outside keeps players in constant suspense, never knowing how safe they are at any given moment. With the camera being their only means of see what’s happening outside, players will be tempted to take a picture to find out what could be setting off the motion detectors, but when the grainy image of a large creature appears onscreen, players will wish they’d never looked.

A nerve-shredding experience right until its end, Iron Lung is proof that less is more when it comes to horror.
