10 Awesome Platformers Not Made By Nintendo

9. Little Big Planet

22 LittlebigplanetMedia Molecule/ SonyMany people were blown away when Little Big Planet was first released for the PS3. The game follows Sackboy, a character completely out of cloth, who is trying to stop The Collector, a villain who has been stealing creations throughout Little Big Planet. This game is best known for its unique and inclusive take on platformer games. In Little Big Planet, story takes a backseat to gameplay, and that€™s totally fine, because there€™s so much to get lost in while playing this game. Each level differentiates itself from the prior stage, using the environment to push the game forward. For example, in the Jungle level you can ride on buffaloes and climb up giraffes, and in the Metropolis level you can navigate through subway cars. Little Big Planet does what good video games are meant to do: provide a unique world for players to explore. Perhaps one of the best aspects of Little Big Planet, however, is something that turned conventional any guidelines for making a conventional platformer on their heads. LBP offers players the opportunity to create their own levels. Using the games full level creator, you€™re able to draw objects, whether they€™re simple or complex, and interact with them in your own level. It€™s fun, pretty simple, and really rewarding.
