10 Awesome Platformers Not Made By Nintendo

5. Super Meat Boy

Super Meat BoyTeam MeatIf there is anything that is similar about good platformers, it's how much they actually deviate from the norm. Super Meat Boy is a game that certainly does just that. The game follows its titular character, Meatboy, as he tries to save his girlfiend, Bandage Girl, from the evil Dr. Fetus. Although the game controls are about as basic as you can get in a platformer, where the character merely runs and jumps, Super Meat Boy is anything but basic. The main obstacles in the game are giant saws that can be quite deadly, leaving a meaty blood splatter if you misstep. The game€™s aesthetic is filled with reds and blacks, adding to the bloody undertones to the game. In addition, this game is actually pretty difficult. Thankfully, however, it isn€™t frustratingly so, and doesn€™t lose its flavor after forcing you to start over again a handful of times. Super Meat Boy can be played on Xbox Arcade, or can be downloaded on Steam.
