10 Awesome Platformers Not Made By Nintendo

3. Rayman Legends

RaymanUbisoftIn 2011, Rayman Origins was released on a number of different platforms. With its stunning visuals that pop off the screen, the game quickly catapulted itself to the top of many lists of platformer games. In 2013, a sequel was released to the impressive platformer, titled Rayman Legends. The sequel took what sturdy groundwork its predecessor laid and impressively built upon it. Much like Origins, Rayman Legends had a delightfully simple storyline. The game picks up where its predecessor left off, with Rayman and friends waking after a 1000 year slumber. Once again, they must try to stop The Magician and Bubble Dreamer's nightmares. Rayman Legends improves upon the beautiful setting already in place, with unique levels that all feel and look both interesting and diverse. The game is both challenging and rewarding, with super fun boss levels that foster creative gameplay, something more and more modern platformers are trying to put forward. The multiplayer is also great, although it can get a little hectic if more than two players share the screen and is only available for local play. Rayman Legends is available on Wii U, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
