Perhaps it’s a stretch to say Nintendo’s criminally-neglected Metroid series was at its best during its voyage through first-person shooter territory, but the Prime trilogy goes down as a highlight of galactic bounty hunter Samus Aran’s career.

The Big N’s new console, the Nintendo Switch, is little more than a Zelda machine at the moment - albeit an innovative one - so isn’t it about time the gaming giant revisited some of its more overlooked properties like Metroid?

Taking the series back to its roots with a reboot is the way forward and a return to the FPS ways of the 2002 GameCube smash is a way of killing two birds with one Arm Cannon blast - bringing Samus back in a fan-pleasing way and boosting the Switch’s anaemic shooter provision.

As for how to reboot the Prime sub-series, what about a first-person remake of the insanely-addictive NES original with a fleshed-out storyline?
