10 Beloved Video Game Characters You Hated In The Sequel

8. Chuck Greene - Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Red dead redemption
Capcom

Dead Rising 2's protagonist, Chuck Greene, is different from the others, as he's nowhere near as comical as Frank West or even Nick. He's a much more serious person, which makes sense considering his tragic backstory and the fact that he needs to constantly look out for his infected daughter.

His lack of humor might seem like a detriment to his character, but in reality, it actually made him more sympathetic. A lot of people who played the second game loved Chuck for his relationship with his daughter and rooted for him as he tried to save her from turning into a zombie.

This is why Chuck's version in Dead Rising 2's spin-off, Off The Record, is such a disappointment to the fans. The game reimagines Chuck by turning him into a paranoid psychopath after he is unable to save Katey. He carries around a doll resembling his daughter and attacks anyone who comes close to "her."

If this already doesn't sound disappointingly sad, Frank, who replaces Chuck as the protagonist in Off the Record, treats Chuck like just another crazy person when he kills him.

It's a brutal betrayal of his character, but thankfully, Off the Record isn't canonical.
