10 Beloved Video Game Studios That Didn't Deserve To Be Shut Down

Even if you rarely play video games, you've probably enjoyed something that Neversoft made during their 20 years as a development studio. In charge of nine Tony Hawk's Pro Skater titles, the team shaped the youths of many gamers growing up, but they weren't just a one-trick pony.

Spreading their wings and creating radically different experiences than what they were known for, the likes of the fan-favourite Wild West shooter Gun proved the developers had what it took to become a top-tier studio.

Unfortunately, their publisher Activison didn't think so, and put them in charge of steering the Guitar Hero franchise to success after the original team jumped ship.

When that didn't work out, Neversoft were relegated to being a support studio to aid the development of Call of Duty after Infinity Ward suffered a mass exodus following the release of Modern Warfare 2, eventually being merged into that other team completely in 2014.

Sadly, the personality that Neversoft brought to the gaming industry may never be seen again, and neither will that iconic skewered eye that preceded most of your favourite childhood games.
