10 Beloved Video Game Studios That Didn't Deserve To Be Shut Down

Until they were closed down, Visceral Games were one of the best developers working today. Not only creating the amazing Dead Space trilogy, some of the studio's more recent efforts included the underrated hack-and-slash action game Dante's Inferno and Battlefield: Hardline.

Before becoming Visceral Games, the then-named EA Redwood Shores made great licensed games too. With three James Bond titles to their name, a couple of Lord of the Rings tie-ins and even the surprisingly good Godfather games under their belt, the studio proved that they could make great experiences with other people's properties.

Consequently, when it was announced that the studio had been working on a new narrative-driven Star Wars game - led by the director of the first three Uncharted games no less - players went nuts. In development for years, anticipation was through the roof to see what these great talents could do with the Star Wars license.

Tragically though, Visceral Studios closed down earlier this week, and it sounds as though their Star Wars game will never see the light of day. While a lot of the developers on this list closed long after their peak years, Visceral still had so much to offer the gaming world, and it's a huge shame that they'll never get the chance to fulfil their true potential.
