The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the PS1 was a damn-near miracle, drawing in a huge following of enraptured gamers, many of whom didn't skateboard nor care to know who Tony Hawk even was. The first four games were phenomenal, with fantastically-designed levels, and precise board-kicking, ollie-popping (that's a thing, right?) gameplay, not to mention memorable soundtracks...

Cannot sleep, lost count of sheep. My mind seems to be racing faster every...Hmm? Where was I?

Ah, that's right, I got carried away in a nostalgic daydream about the Tony Hawk games of old because there's so little to be said of later games. The Underground series was OK, but already blighted with the dreary objective-based gameplay that would go on to define the series.

Tony Hawk's Ride (the one with that dreadful skateboard peripheral) marked the start of a complete meltdown for the series, while the recently-released Pro Skater 5 is a buggy (that's what's happening in the picture), bland mess that's successfully ruined the once-prestigious 'Pro Skater' name.
