10 Beloved Video Games Series That Have Been Ruined By The Industry

If you were a Crash fan back in its PS1 heyday, then you could be forgiven for thinking that that's where the series ended.

And in a way it did, as Naughty Dog got to work on new projects. But the series lived on in an undead state, as Sony continually tried reviving it for the next seven years under different developers. Wrath of Cortex on the PS2 at least had the decency to stick with the gameplay and art style that made the original trilogy so great, but over the years different developers desecrated the Crash we knew and loved, culminating in the dreadful Mind over Mutant, where the PlayStation legend looked more like a supermarket own-brand cereal mascot.

Crash still lives on in the memory as a PS1 icon thanks in part to the fact that his subsequent games went by almost unnoticed. With an upcoming remaster of the original trilogy coming to the PS4, there's hope yet that the old dog might yet make a comeback.

Here's hoping he'll be reunited with Naughty Dog...
