10 Best Local Multiplayer Video Games Of The Decade
6. A Way Out
A Way Out dropped in 2018 as a bit of a pleasant surprise. A fantastic introduction to Electronic Arts' new EA Originals programme, the game is unique as being only playable in multiplayer.
Whether online, or local, the game requires a real person to take control of either Vincent or Leo, and work together to outsmart the prison guards and escape from the high-security facility they are both trapped in.
A Way Out uses its splitscreen features in a wonderfully unique way, with both players essentially paying attention to both screens. One player can act as a lookout for the other as they attempt to escape their cell at night. While one player is caught up in a conversational cutscene, the other can search elsewhere, their screen size shrinking to indicate the character that both players should be paying attention to.
Featuring both puzzle-solving and third person shooting gameplay, A Way Out is a joy to play, especially with your significant other by your side. The true meaning of that statement will become clear when the two of you manage to finish the game.
Sitting down to a viciously competitive game of Connect 4 with your fiance can be deceivingly good fun.
