It's all well and good having turn-based RPG gameplay or top-down RTS platoon-management - but what longtime cosplayers and fans of Tolkien's work have wished they could do for decades is actually live inside Middle-earth itself. With regular expansions coming out - the newest of which just being the Helms Deep add-on from last year - it's turned into a burgeoning community packed to the brim with locations from the books and movies, letting you create your own character and journey everywhere from The Shire to the gates of Mordor itself. Sure it's not as country population-rivalling as Warcraft - nor is the entire experience as polished - but being that WoW in itself is inspired so heavily from the Tolkien's epics, book readers and traditionalists are still to this day getting a kick out of living out their fantasies using appropriate lore terminology and landmarks.
